The circumstances in which these photographs were taken physically establishes a point-by-point connection with nature. Broader issues of migration, home displacement, cultural heritage and re-imagining home in a time of mobility inform the contents of my work.
Drawing inspiration from my own biography, I aim to capture the chimeras of intercultural hardships by glancing wistfully at family customs and cultural heritage as a tool to denounce the burdens and tensions inherent in intercultural exchange.
From an angle of someone looking back in time with things they love or loved but are no longer there, this body of work raises questions about identity, community and labour, inviting the viewer to reflect on the nature of such austerities at a personal/universal level.
